Estate Planning

Establishing a thoughtful estate plan can help you leave a legacy for the people and charitable causes you care about most.

At Concordia University Texas, one of our core values is Caring for People, and one way we do this is by offering an opportunity for people in the Concordia community to work with a professional estate planner at no cost. If a family or individual decides to file the plan, attorneys fees may apply.

What is an Estate Plan?

Estate plans include a will that outlines how you want your money and other assets distributed after your death—-making it easier for your loved ones to handle your affairs during a time of grief.

The complimentary service is available for faculty, staff, students and their families, and alumni without an estate plan or those who need to update their plans.

Benefits

By having an estate plan in place, you ensure you can continue to support the people and organizations you love long into the future. These plans have other benefits such as:

  • Protecting beneficiaries from overpaying taxes.
  • Setting up trusts for children who are minors or have special needs.
  • Giving to charities that can reduce or eliminate taxes on your estate.
  • Establishing financial power of attorney and advanced medical directives.
