Lost & Found

The CTX Research Center & Library Services collects lost items found around campus. Please take anything found to the Information Desk for safe keeping. If you lost an item, check with the Information Desk to retrieve it.


Library Mission and Objectives

Mission Statement

The mission of the CTX Library is to enable our users to find the right information, in the right place, at the right time, in the right way to meet their needs, wants, and desires, and to support and enhance the educational mission of the University. In this way, we fully support life-long learning and Concordia's overall mission to "develop Christian leaders."


  • To acquire (or provide access to) and process information related specifically to curricular needs in
    • Education
    • Business
    • Humanities
    • Social sciences
    • Natural sciences
    • Nursing
    • Concordia's centers, partners, and online programs
  • To store this information in a manner which provides easy access for all our local and remote library users.
  • To provide service and training in the use of the library and its resources (in-house and on-line) to students, faculty, staff, and other patrons.
  • To provide facilities conducive to research and study, including a well-lit, temperate, secure building with multiple study and meeting places.
  • To support the privacy and legal issues that surround information -- copyright, plagiarism, and the right to have no one but the library staff know your interests or what or when you checked something out.
  • Curriculum Support:
  • To participate with faculty and administration in planning of curricula.
  • To enhance information literacy in all appropriate courses at the appropriate level, especially those taught at the freshman and sophomore introductory levels.
  • To integrate curriculum and independent study with library resources.
  • To participate in the orientations of new faculty and new adjuncts.
  • To educate faculty, staff, and students on the legal issues concerning copyright and the ethical issues surrounding plagiarism.
  • Cooperation with other Libraries:
  • To cooperate with area libraries (public, private and for profit) in activities in which the principles of good stewardship are served.
  • To participate in state initiatives, local consortia, and CUS cooperative agreements to help serve larger needs.
  • Assessment and Analysis:
  • To utilize research methodologies to maintain continuing improvement of resources and services.
  • To keep abreast of accreditation requirements and external standards.
  • To keep abreast of ethical and legal issues concerning information and libraries, including ADA considerations.
  • Professional Development:
  • To provide sufficient, well-educated and appropriately compensated staff to serve its patrons by encouraging appropriate levels of staffing, assuring that staff are active members of professional organizations, and providing regular opportunities for professional development.
  • To subscribe to the American Library Association Bill of Rights, the Association of College and Research Libraries' Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education, and the American Library Association Freedom to Read Statement.
