Poetry Workshop & Reading with Camille Dungy

The Concordia University Texas Otto W. and Norma L. Schaefer Endowed Chair in Literature Lecture presents Camille Dungy, an award-winning poet.

You're invited to join us for the webinar on Wednesday, October 7. Dungy will lead a poetry workshop, read poetry and answer questions.

The hour-long webinar on Zoom will be hosted by Jo McIntosh, a CTX associate professor of English and the Otto W. and Norma L. Schaefer Endowed Chair in Literature ('19-'21).

About Camille Dungy

Dungy is an award-winning nature poet who lives in Fort Collins, Colorado, with her husband and daughter. She currently serves as University Distinguished Professor in the English Department at Colorado State University.

She is the author of four collections of poetry, including "Trophic Cascade" (Wesleyan UP, 2017), "Smith Blue" (Southern Illinois UP, 2011), "Suck on the Marrow" (Red Hen Press, 2010) and "What to Eat, What to Drink, What to Leave for Poison" (Red Hen Press, 2006).

Her collection of personal essays, "Guidebook to Relative Strangers: Journeys into Race, Motherhood and History" (W.W. Norton, 2017), was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award (NBCCA). She has edited several anthologies, including "Black Nature: Four Centuries of African American Nature Poetry" (UGA, 2009).

Her poems and essays have appeared in Best American Poetry, The 100 Best African American Poems, nearly 30 other anthologies and more than one hundred journals.

She has received many awards for her work, including the Colorado Book Award, the American Book Award, two Northern California Book Awards, a California Book Award silver medal, fellowships from the Sustainable Arts Foundation, fellowships from the NEA in both poetry and prose, and more.

Expand your appreciation and knowledge of poetry. Dungy will lead a poetry workshop with writing prompts, providing a wonderful opportunity to develop your literary skills or expand upon them. She will also conduct a poetry reading and participate in a Q&A session, which will be moderated by CTX student leaders.
