Aman Azad - International Graduate Student Experience At Concordia University Texas

Aman is originally from the United Arab Emirates. In 2025, he moved to Austin, Texas to pursue his Master of Business Administration at Concordia University Texas. His first impression when he arrived at Concordia’s campus was how being surrounded by a 250-acre nature preserve makes it so beautiful. "It has a very calm vibe” emphasized Aman.

Just like many other graduate students, he is always looking forward to the MBA residency weekends as those give him a great time to connect with our student community. In fact, he shares “that is how I made my first group of friends”. Our hybrid graduate programs include one required residency weekend each semester, giving students the opportunity to build relationships with faculty, classmates, and industry professionals.

Like many international students, Aman secured on-campus employment during his first semester after working with the Designated School Official (DSO) and connecting with fellow students. Concordia University Texas is committed to every student's success. On-campus student jobs have been one of the many ways to achieve that goal as that helps students develop career-ready skills including problem solving, teamwork, leadership, communication, creativity, and critical thinking. Here in Austin, Texas, Aman has found a spot that is at the top of his recommendation list. The Oasis On Lake Travis, famously known as the Sunset Capital of Texas. He believes that the sunset there is potentially one of the best that he has ever seen. The Oasis has a designated viewing area where you can get to enjoy breathtaking sunsets as the sky’s color change reflects Lake Travis. A refreshing experience indeed! This is a great location off campus to consider when you are planning a relaxed evening or even when your family comes to visit you in Austin, Texas.

Priyanka Deepak – Pursuing an Undergraduate Degree as an Adult International Student

Priyanka Deepak arrived in Austin, Texas, from Durban, South Africa, in 2025. Pursuing her Bachelor of Business Administration program as an adult international student was daunting, let alone adjusting to life in a new city. Within her first year of being at Concordia University Texas, she found herself growing and adapting faster than she ever imagined.

She points out “my classmates have been so welcoming during discussions; my unique life experiences and opinions are always heard, respected, and valued, making me feel completely at home rather than just a number in a class”. Our smaller class sizes help ensure students are known, supported, and encouraged to contribute to their unique perspectives.

One of the opportunities she is grateful for is her on-campus student job with Concordia University Texas Admissions Team. “This on-campus job has unlocked a whole new level of freedom and independence for me,” says Priyanka. She also credits a fellow Concordia student who encouraged her to apply for the student job. Priyanka’s story reflects one of the advantages of being on a tight-knit campus of approximately 1500 undergraduate students, where students can build meaningful relationships with classmates, faculty, and staff more quickly. The community built eventually results in so many benefits such as; students supporting one another. That same design is created for our undergraduate classes whereby intentional mentorships between a student, and a faculty can easily be formed. Learn more about undergraduate programs.

Beyond campus, her life is filled with so many thrilling adventures. Punch Bowl Social and Vigilante Gaming Bar are among her favorite locations in Austin, Texas. These popular Austin locations are great social venues with activities such as board games, arcade games, bowling, karaoke, and other entertaining activities. Priyanka’s appreciation for such social venues in Austin, Texas is remarkable. Being an international student at Concordia University Texas gives you an opportunity to experience both worlds, a supportive on-campus community and the vibrant city of Austin, Texas, making your college experience memorable.

Before moving to Austin, Texas he had never ziplined. In fact, he admits that he was terrified. The thought of hanging on a “zipline” high above the ground was never convincing to him. Fast-forward to today after his first experience at Lake Travis Zipline, he claims that has to be one of the most exciting adventures he has ever done.
